PHOTOS: At the Pet Gala, fashion goes to the dogs

They may call it a catwalk, but the Pet Gala is the dogs' time to shine. Designer Anthony Rubio threw the now-annual fashion fete Monday night, sending 18 dogs down the red carpet at New York's American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog. Each canine donned couture similar to what celebrities wore at the Met Gala just two weeks earlier. “I want people to understand that we’re not making fun of the Met Gala. We’re not mimicking the Met Gala,” Rubio said. “We’re elevating and appraising and appreciating the wonderful designs that were presented at the Met Gala by the most talented designers of the world.” At $300 a ticket, proceeds from the Pet Gala benefit the host museum — much like its human counterpart uptown serves as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. Most of the furry fashionistas were pint-sized — even the role of Chris Hemsworth was played by a shih tzu — though there was a Leonberger in the mix. Some of the Met Gala's most talked about stars...

CANNES PHOTOS: See the cinematic glamour of the first days of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival

Hollywood royalty is back at the Cannes Film Festival for its annual celebration of cinema along the French Riviera. Premieres bring an elegant parade of stars nightly and moments that become indelible Cannes images, whether it's Francis Ford Coppola's return to the Palais des Festivals or French actor Judith Godrèche and other actors posing with their hands over their mouths to draw attention to France's burgeoning #MeToo movement. There's time for levity, too, like Anya Taylor-Joy saluting her “Furiosa” director, George Miller, or the arrival of Messi, the canine “Anatomy of a Fall” star who performed tricks for photographers and served as a bridge to last year's standout festival. Daytime photocalls can become playgrounds for stars and photographers alike, like when Nic Cage tossed his hat while promoting “The Surfer.” (Hats have been a go-to accessory this year, worn by Coppola and Giancarlo Esposito at the “Megalopolis” premiere; Meryl Streep, an honorary Palme d'Or recipient,...
